Early Learning

Early Learning

Located at Bacchus Marsh Grammar’s Woodlea Campus, the Early Learning Centre provides a nurturing and purposeful environment for three- and four-year-old children to begin their learning journey.

Our approach combines guided teaching with opportunities for child-led exploration. Programs are designed to build confidence, curiosity and independence, with a strong focus on communication, collaboration and a genuine love of learning.

Educators work closely with families to understand and support each child’s individual needs and strengths. Learning goals are personalised and regularly reviewed to ensure every child feels supported and encouraged as they grow.

Our Facilities

The Centre has been purpose-built to support high-quality early childhood education.

Indoor spaces are calm, light-filled and flexible, offering areas for play, group learning, creativity and quiet reflection. The environment invites curiosity and encourages children to engage in meaningful experiences.

Outside, the playground includes garden beds, natural climbing areas, sand, rocks and water—elements that promote hands-on exploration and support physical, social and emotional development. Children move freely between indoor and outdoor spaces as part of their daily routine.

Land Beyond the Fence

As part of the ELC program, children take part in Land Beyond the Fence, a nature-based learning experience held at the School’s Staughton Vale Campus during Terms Two and Three.

Through guided exploration and open-ended play, children develop resilience, independence and a deeper connection to the natural world. Each session begins with an Acknowledgement to Country and includes opportunities for problem solving, imaginative play and collaborative learning.

Transition to School

Supporting a smooth and confident transition to school is a key part of the Early Learning experience.

Throughout the year, the ELC team works closely with Sally Savic, Head of Junior School, to ensure children are well prepared for their next step.

Children participate in activities that introduce them to school routines and environments, including visits to the Junior School and time with Prep teachers. These experiences help children build familiarity and confidence ahead of their move into primary school.
