Welcome back to Term 2
I hope everyone had a restful and safe break and that everyone is refreshed for a productive second term. Whilst researching an article for the Podium this week I came across an interesting piece on returning to school and Four Tips to make the transition from our holidays easier. If you will indulge me, here are the tips for students returning to school:
1/ Review Your Expectations
I always considered the first day back from a holiday break to be just like the first day of school. You will want to review your expectations and procedures. Go over your study schedule. Think about what worked and what didn’t in Semester One. Continue to Strive for the STARS.
2/ Be structured
Students, like us, have been on holidays where their days have begun with “sleep ins” and “do what may”. It is time to get back to structure. Make sure you are well planned and prepared. Make sure that your study cards and revision notes are up to date, and you are going into each lesson with a clear learning goal and intention.
3/ Be Positive and Confident
Remember to be positive and confident. You are where you are because of all the hard work you have put in. You are great students and continue showing this through your actions.
4/ Have a Plan for Stress Management
Upon returning, have a plan for how you are going to handle the stress of school. Most importantly, set up a structured sleep routine. This is the one area that will make the most difference. Make sure you eat well and take time to exercise and read.
I hope everyone has a great start to Term 2 and I look forward to chatting to students and parents as the year continues.
