Native Fish find a home at Bacchus Marsh Grammar

Thanks to a partnership between Native Fish Australia and Bacchus Marsh Grammar, the Staughton Vale campus has recently welcomed the installation of a native fish aquarium, hosting fourteen endangered Southern Pygmy Perch. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) listed the Southern Pygmy Perch as Near Threatened in 2019.

Tim Curmi , President of Native Fish Australia (Victoria), installed the aquarium in the science room at Staughton Vale, which will be their home until they are mature enough to be released into their native environment.

Students will now have the opportunity to see and feed the fish on their visits to Staughton Vale. Find out more about Southern Pygmy Perch at https://www.nativefish.asn.au/home/page/Southern-Pygmy-Perch
