Sport Report – ACS Swimming Championships

On Monday 30 March 2026, BMG took select students from both Maddingley and Woodlea to represent us at the annual ACS Swimming Championships.

• BMG finished 6th overall

• Rodney T (12H) – 1st in Breaststroke A, 3rd in Backstroke A, 3rd in Butterfly A
• Tanya D (11C) – 3rd in Freestyle A
• Kevan P (7WF) – 3rd in Boys Backstroke, 3rd in Butterfly
• Nilay S (12WB) – 3rd in Breaststroke

Maddingley

BAS Golf

On Tuesday 24 March, BMG recently took six students to the annual BAS Golf event in Ballarat, competing against schools within the ICCES Association.
Congratulations to the following students on representing the school:

• Harvey L (9A)
• Thomas S (10H)
• Kurtis C (11H)
• Riley D (11H)
• Kayden H (12I)
• James M (12E)

At the conclusion of the event, Harvey (9A) finished 11th in the Junior Boys BAS competition and placed an impressive 2nd in the ICCES Association event – well done, Harvey!
Thomas (10H) placed 5th in the BAS competition and finished 3rd overall among ICCES schools. As a result, Thomas has qualified for the SSV State Finals in May – a fantastic achievement.
Well done to all students for their efforts and for representing BMG with pride. A sincere thank you to Mr Glen and Mr Borg for their assistance and support at this event.

Western Metropolitan Regional Swimming Carnival

On Tuesday, 31 March 2026, BMG was proudly represented at the Western Metropolitan Regional Swimming Carnival by four students. Competing against very strong opposition, many of these students achieved personal best performances on the day.

A huge congratulations to the following students for their outstanding efforts in the pool throughout Term 1.

Woodlea

Year 3 and 4 Cross Country

The Years 3 and 4 students from the Woodlea Junior School participated in the annual Cross Country event in Term 1 at the school’s picturesque Staughton Vale Campus. This year’s event was uniquely combined with the Staughton Vale excursion which offered students the opportunity to complete their 2km race through the scenic surrounds before engaging in a series of team-building activities. It was a wonderful day that balanced physical challenge with collaboration and enjoyment.

On the day of the Year 3 Cross Country, the rain held off enabling students to complete their race and enjoy a spirited game of Tunnel Ball and Rob the Nest.

The Year 4 cohort commenced their day in cooler conditions, but with the gradual weather improvement, students were able to enjoy the sun’s warmth as they participated in collaborative activities such as the Human Knot, To the Market, and Tunnel Ball.

All students demonstrated commendable effort and determination with each runner contributing valuable points to their respective Houses. Congratulations to our podium finishes on the days:

Western Metropolitan Regional Swimming Championships

Congratulations to our students who qualified for and competed at the Western Metropolitan Regional Swimming Championships held on Tuesday 31 March at Kardinia Aquatic Centre.

Our girls represented the school with great pride and should be extremely pleased with their efforts and performances in the pool.

A special mention goes to Stella C (6WA), who achieved an outstanding result placing 3rd in the breaststroke event — a fantastic achievement.
