Bacchus Marsh Grammar Students Achieve National Championship Success

Two of our students have been crowned Australian National Champions at the 2025 Oz Schools Instrumental Championships National Finals in Melbourne, where state champions from across the nation competed for the title of Australian National Champion.

Vivaan A (Year 2D) achieved a remarkable distinction, becoming the only competitor in the entire competition to secure first place in two different instruments. Vivaan was crowned Australian National Champion in both Drums and Piano in the Primary Junior Division (Prep – Grade 2). Competing against state champions from Western Australia, New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria, Vivaan’s achievement was formally acknowledged during the awards ceremony. Following third-place finishes in both instruments at the State Finals, Vivaan demonstrated exceptional dedication over six weeks of focused preparation, ultimately securing both national titles.

Micah S (Year 11F) was awarded first place in the Secondary Senior Division (Years 10-12) for Pianoforte, claiming the title of Australian National Champion. After securing second place at the State Finals in October, Micah competed against the nation’s finest young pianists, including students with extensive experience in national and international competitions. This achievement complements Micah’s recent invitation to perform in a masterclass with renowned concert pianist Konstantin Shamray at the University of Melbourne’s Ian Potter Southbank Centre, led by Professor Jerry Wong, Associate Professor of Music and Head of Piano and Keyboard.

Both students have exemplified our school values of discipline, confidence and ambition through their outstanding musical achievements.

We extend our warmest congratulations to Vivaan and Micah on these outstanding achievements.
