Mary Poppins Jr – Woodlea Production
What a show! Based on the timeless stories by P.L. Travers and the classic Walt Disney film, the show follows the enchanting Mary Poppins as she brings her unique brand of wisdom, whimsy and wonder to the Banks family and to everyone lucky enough to watch her story unfold.
The musical showcased the incredible talent, energy and heart of our Woodlea students. The catchy tunes, clever choreography and bright performances ensured each scene was brought to life with creativity.
Thank you to our dedicated Production Team who poured countless hours into every detail from directing, choreography, vocal coaching, set construction and costume coordination to technical support and behind-the-scenes organisation. Your hard work and passion made this production a beautiful piece of theatre and created wonderful memories for the students involved.
To our families, thank you for the ongoing support and encouragement. From late-night rehearsals and costume prep to cheering in the audience, your involvement was key to creating such a special experience for our students.
Congratulations to everyone involved in Mary Poppins Jr. It truly was a practically perfect show, filled with joy, teamwork and memories.
Stay tuned for more photos on Schoolbox next week!

Music Week 2025
Between Monday 2 June and Friday 6 June we celebrated Music Week at BMG. Over the course of the week, more than 200 students performed in 30 concerts across five days at both campuses. This musical feast showcased our talented students from all year levels, playing a wide variety of instruments and exploring many different musical styles.
We held concerts dedicated to specific instruments including piano, voice, woodwind, brass, strings, guitars and percussion. Our VCE and VET Music students also performed solo concerts featuring their exam programs.
This year we introduced new performance spaces at both campuses. At Maddingley, the Hive hosted several lunchtime piano recitals and a special cello performance that complemented student activities in the library. At Woodlea, the Peng Building hosted its first music soiree, with the Year 9 and 10 Music students presenting their exam pieces.
The Performing Arts Department extends a heartfelt thank you to all parents, staff and students who supported the concerts and embraced this year’s theme: Playing for Others, Listening to Others.
Finally, I would like to thank all the staff who dedicated their time and energy to making Music Week such a memorable celebration. We are already looking forward to Music Week in 2026.
Showcase
On Thursday 5 June, students in Years 2 to 4 showcased their musical talents to a warm and supportive audience of parents in the gym. The Year 3 and 4 classes performed a vibrant collection of songs using a range of percussion instruments including marimbas, glockenspiels, xylophones and untuned percussion. Year 2 students presented delightful violin pieces, proudly demonstrating their growing skills. The Year 3 and 4 Choir gave a spirited performance of Roar by Katy Perry, and the Junior School rock band brought great energy to the afternoon. We were also treated to some impressive solo performances on piano and guitar. It was a wonderful addition to our Music Week celebrations.
