Literacy Week Visitors

During Literacy Week, the Libraries at Woodlea and Maddingley hosted author visits to engage students with storytelling, reading engagement, critical analysis and writing skills.

Students enjoyed visits from some of Australia’s best authors and illustrators, whose books always fly off the shelves after their visit!

Prep Reception and ELC students were visited by Ben Sanders, author and illustrator of the Agent Harrier series, the Bad Apple series and the Not Yours series

Prep met with Lucinda Gifford, talented author and illustrator of BMG favourite the Kevin the Grumpy Cat series

Year 1 were entertained by the musical storytelling of Mark Carthew, author of the Moose is Loose and the Dingle Dangle Jungle

Year 2 had a delightful visit with prolific author Claire Saxby, author of the ANZAC Billy and There was on old sailor

Year 3 will be visited in early Term 4 by Adrian Beck, author of the Little Legends and the Fox Kid series

Year 4 enjoyed a workshop from Victoria’s best writing coaches, the 100 Story Building team

Year 5 met with Joel McKerrow, poet and author of the Heist series

Year 6 students will be visited by the Bell Shakespeare company later in the year

Year 7 were visited by Stuart Wilson, author of the runaway hit the 113th Assistant Librarian series.

Year 8 were (virtually) visited by Tristan Bancks, author of Scar Town, the Two Wolves series and the Mac Slater series.

Books by all authors are available to borrow from the library so students can continue to connect to quality Australian authors and their writing.
