Director of Early Learning Services

Bacchus Marsh Grammar is seeking an experienced and passionate Director of Early Learning Services to lead our Early Learning Centre. This is a key leadership role responsible for delivering a high-quality, innovative early childhood program that supports the development and wellbeing of children, families, and staff.

About the Role

As Director, you will oversee the day-to-day management and strategic direction of the Early Learning Centre. You will play a critical role in:

  • Leading a positive, inclusive, and child-safe culture
  • Ensuring compliance with the Education and Care Services National Law and Regulations and the Early Years Learning Framework
  • Supporting children’s learning, development, and wellbeing
  • Building strong partnerships with families and the wider community
  • Managing staff performance, development, and wellbeing
  • Overseeing administration, enrolments, and financial operations
  •  Driving continuous improvement through the Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) Leading assessment and rating processes and striving toward exceeding the National

This is a full-time (1.0 FTE, 37.5 hours per week), ongoing position based at the Early Learning Centre (ELC) at our Woodlea Campus in Aintree. The role accrues annual leave, and salary will be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

  • Provide strong educational and operational leadership across the service
  • Ensure the safety, rights, and wellbeing of all children, maintaining a zero-tolerance approach to child abuse and neglect
  • Manage compliance, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Lead and mentor a team of educators, fostering professional growth and high performance
  • Oversee budgeting, financial management, and reporting
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with families, staff, and external stakeholders
  • Support staff induction, performance management, and workforce planning
  • Ensure effective communication across all levels of the organisation
  • Collaborate closely with the Principal and wider school leadership
About You

You are an experienced and confident leader who is passionate about early childhood education and committed to excellence.

You will bring:

  • Proven leadership experience in an early childhood or educational setting
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including National Law and Regulations
  • Demonstrated ability to manage operations, compliance, and financial systems
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • A commitment to child safety, inclusion, and continuous improvement
  • The ability to lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing team

Key Selection Criteria

Essential Criteria Skills, Knowledge and Experience
  • Demonstrated experience in managing an Early Childhood centre or Management within an Educational environment;
  • High level organisational skills, including demonstrated capacity to establish and maintain financial and administrative systems;
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to contribute effectively to a team;
  • Experience in developing and monitoring budgets and cash flows, preparing financial reports and working with auditors;
  • Extensive understanding and experience in adhering to Education and Care Service National Law Act 2010 and Education and Care Services National Regulations 2011 and other applicable legislation and regulations.

 Qualifications

  • Diploma in Children Services/ Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) or equivalent;
  • First Aid HLTAID012. CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis qualifications;
  • Current working with children check.
  • National Police Check
  • Protecting Children: Mandatory Reporting and Other Obligations for Early Childhood certificate (current)
