Senior Grounds and Maintenance Officer

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Grounds & Maintenance Officer for our Woodlea Campus located in Aintree (Rockbank). The successful applicant will lead the upkeep, presentation, and functionality of our facilities and outdoor spaces. This hands- on role is responsible for coordinating grounds and maintenance activities while ensuring a safe, clean and well-maintained environment for all staff and students, ensuring compliance and relevant health and safety other applicable legislation, regulations and standards.

  • Regular hours: 8:30 am to 4:30 pm (37.5 hours for full time), Monday to Friday.
  • Reduced hours during school holiday periods (9:30 am to 3:30 pm Monday to Friday).
  • 4 Weeks annual leave + additional leave during office closures (x1 week during Term 2 School Holidays). 
  • Access to the Christmas shutdown/school closure of which all employees are granted leave over this period without deducted from their annual leave entitlements.  
  • 5 weeks annual leave loading.  
  • Mid-term breaks (one day each term is allocated by the School at the Principals discretion at which all Employees will be entitled to paid leave on this day).

Key Selection Criteria:

Qualifications/Licences:

  • Relevant trade qualification in building, carpentry, horticulture or electrical
  • Working with Children’s Check (or willing to obtain)
  • National Criminal History check
  • Current and valid Australian Drivers Licence

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain grounds, gardens, lawns and outdoor facilities and buildings to a high standard
  • Demonstrated relevant experience in a similar position
  • Provide supervision and assist in coordination of Grounds and maintenance staff in ad-hoc maintenance tasks
  • The ability and competency to use a wide range of equipment and tools
  • Strong organisational skills with demonstrated ability to priorities competing tasks, meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Ability to work and provide direction within a team
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements
