Koala Clancy excursion
On Thursday 9 October, the Community Service Team and SRC attended an excursion to The You Yangs, where we took part in a range of activities while learning about the origins and background of the Koala Clancy Foundation. We met several members of the team, who made us feel welcome and informed us about the local habitat. Students helped remove invasive weeds, which we learned is important because it allows more koalas to make the area their home. We also followed a trail leading up to the Big Rock, where we discovered how the site was traditionally used for water collection. Along the way, we spotted some native wildlife, including a skink and types of eucalyptus leaves, which was amazing to see. Overall, students from both teams enjoyed the experience and appreciated the opportunity to learn more about Australia’s natural environment and to meet such a passionate and welcoming team.
