BMG 2019 Grammarian Issue 4

6 The Bacchus Marsh Grammar High Performance Sport Program has continued to support our athletes in 2019. The elite sporting model was developed after research conducted from a variety of European Elite Sporting Schools in 2010. The program caters for a variety of sports and also caters for individual improvement through specific programming. The BMG Elite Sports Program also has a proud partnership with the Federation University WestVic Academy of Sport and athletes are educated in: • Strength and Conditioning from ASCA qualified coaches • Careers • Nutrition • Sports Psychology • Social media, sponsorship etc. Muscular skeletal screenings are conducted for all athletes in the Bacchus Marsh Grammar Program from Years 9 to 10 as well as athletes under the WestVic Academy scholarship umbrella. Initial testing and screening of athletes is fundamental in making sure that all athletes enter the program prepared and informed about their athletic abilities and potential. Athletes are developed firstly to achieve physical literacy in Strength and Conditioning, concentrating on a model of technical proficiency before progressing to physical and load development. High Performance staff and coaches have also continued to be at the “cutting edge” completing post graduate degrees in Strength and Conditioning, Exercise Physiology and High Performance Sports Coaching. Once again, in 2019, Bacchus Marsh Grammar athletes produced many outstanding achievements and results including World Championship, Oceania, National and State Medals. In this edition of the Grammarian, we are proud to showcase a “snap shot” of just some of our athletic achievements across a variety of sports. We look forward to another outstanding year in 2020. Mr Andrew Perks Director of Sport, PE & Health BMG HIGH PERFORMANCE SPORT RONAN KELEHER – AUSTRALIAN JUNIOR TAEKWONDO ATHLETE 2019 started off for Ronan with an international competition in the United States at the USA Taekwondo Open held in Las Vegas.
