BMG 2019 Grammarian Issue 4

4 YEAR 9 AND 10 LEADERSHIP PROGRAM Bacchus Marsh Grammar continues to offer a depth of programs that foster confidence, self-awareness, resilience, and the ability for students to contribute to their personal growth. We encourage students to aspire to be active and positive members of society who value and respect others and have a strong sense of inclusion and service to others. The Year 9 and 10 Leadership Program continues to encompass all of these factors in a variety of settings. Recently, all the Year 10 students participated in leading Year 2 and 3 students in a variety of activities at our Staughton Vale Campus. The Year 10s were asked to design and implement an activity for the Junior School students that would be engaging and fun, with a link to the curriculum. The students were involved in tasks such as testing the pH level of soil, physical activity through minor games, mindfulness activities, maths tasks, literacy development and more. Part of the Leadership Program involves self-reflection. Students were asked to reflect on their involvement from the day and identify areas they considered as personal strengths and areas for improvement. This is an important aspect for personal growth that students found very rewarding. Mrs Debra Ogston – Deputy Principal, Head of Senior School Mr Tony Castrignano – Year 10 Coordinator
