BMG 2019 Grammarian Issue 4

3 FROM THE PRINCIPAL This year has been another excellent one for the school. As we come to the end of the year, I would like to talk about a person who epitomises what the school is about and share some good news. Deputy Principal Jennifer Jovanovic retires from the school after more than ten years of service. She came to us as an extremely well-respected teacher and seasoned administrator. Jennifer’s calm and organised manner saw her develop many of our programs and procedures as well as foster a generation of younger students. She has been a wonderful support and sounding board for me over the years. I wish Jennifer well in retirement, thanking her for the enormous contribution she has made to the school. I look forward to her continued involvement in the life of the school in a number of other areas. We have received news that the school has been successful in obtaining a significant $4.82 million State Government grant to assist in the development of a Year 7 and 8 Complex at the Woodlea Campus. This grant, the first from any Government, will enable the development of a new facility at Woodlea. I thank the Community as a whole for its support over the year and wish everyone a safe and festive season and Happy New Year. Mr Andrew A. Neal EXCELLENCE IN HISTORY At the end of Term 3 a nomination was submitted in the History Teachers Association of Victoria Awards. The School entered the category ‘Excellence in History Education by a Teaching Team’. Nominations in this category were judged by two volunteer board members, two individual members, the Executive Officer and the President. I am proud to announce that the teaching team of Mrs Celia Patterson, Dr Jennifer Caligari, Mr Arron Knezevic, Mr Jude Mete and Mr Richard Murgatroyd were chosen as the winners of this category. They accepted their award on 18 October at the HTAV Middle Years Conference. This success is reflective of the hard work and dedication of all of our History teachers here at Bacchus Marsh Grammar and of the growth that the department is achieving. Congratulations!
