BMG 2019 Grammarian Issue 3

4 SCIENCE FAIR The theme for this year’s Science Fair was ‘Destination Moon: more missions, more science’. BMG took this up a level and celebrated a huge night of Science featuring experiments, student projects and family fun activities. We had a record breaking 66 Middle School entries in the Science Fair competition. The classrooms and mezzanine of W block were filled with student-made Science Fair projects, including music machines, glow in the dark eggs, slime and hydraulic machines just to name a few. The Junior School participated in a colouring competition with Mission Patch designs plastered on the walls outside the Science Fair. Outside it was a clear night with the Observatory open to view Jupiter. This year we held our very own Science ‘Artvo’ which was a huge hit. This complemented the beautiful Junior School art hung in the Art Gallery, with a rare Harmonograph drawing machine added for the evening which produces many works of art using pendulums to create geometric images. There was also an opportunity to launch your very own balloon rocket and run a DC motor experiment. And to finish off the night with a bang, Mr Davie and Mrs Mandic presented a Chemical Show. It was a buzz of lights and explosions with an impressive rocket launch. We hope you will join us next year for the thrilling theme ‘Deep Blue: innovations for the future of our oceans’.
