BMG 2019 Grammarian Issue 3

3 FROM THE PRINCIPAL In this edition of the Grammarian we again celebrate the diversity of activities that make Bacchus Marsh Grammar such a vibrant school. At the heart of what we do is academic achievement and it has been wonderful to see that last year two students at the school gained VCE Premier’s Awards. These awards recognise overall achievement and academic success in a particular subject. Katrina Deidun was the recipient of a Premier’s VCE Award earlier this year for academic excellence in Maltese. Katrina studied her sixth VCE subject externally during 2018. With this came the commitment to attend a language school externally on Saturday mornings along with an increased workload. By Katrina taking on an additional subject in VCE, this contributed to her obtaining her first preference course which had a very high ATAR requirement. We congratulate her on this achievement and wish her great success as she continues studying a Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences at Monash University. As our VCE students are completing their last term of assessments and enter a heavy study and revision schedule, I would like to remind them that the key to VCE success is consistent work and the repetition of tasks until they become second nature. This takes time and effort but is often the difference between a good score and a score at this highest level. I again congratulate Katrina on her effort and award. Mr Andrew A. Neal
